What is Veterinary Communication?

Ever since I spotted a gap in the market and started Vet Voice, I’m constantly asked to define what exactly veterinary communication is? It’s a very valid question, yet if you type it into Google it returns quite a sparse results list!

In essence, Veterinary Communication covers all forms of interaction and information exchange of a veterinary and animal healthcare nature. My personal definition is that it is “A specialised area of communication focused on the veterinary profession to help support all veterinary personnel as well as their clients”.

To be successful, we need to understand that there is always:

1. A basic formula to follow

2. A number of key skills to master

3. An awareness that we need to accurately identify our target audience and tailor our messaging appropriately

4. Consistency in our messaging

Finally the message should always delivered using the relevant communication channel.  In other words, if we’re not engaging where our target audience are conversing we’re wasting our time! If you want to gain a more in-depth understanding of any of the above key areas or are simply curious to see how we can help you to communicate more effectively with your target audience, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch by contacting us.
